US Model Y L Launch Series delivery estimates slip to January–March 2027
New US orders for the Model Y L Launch Series now show estimated delivery of January–March 2027 for all configurations, up from January–February. Some customers are seeing February–April 2027. In late September, the Model Y L Premium AWD Launch Series was quoting January–February 2027 at $61,990.
Your estimate is a range and can still change until a VIN is assigned. A long wait leaves time to sort out accessories: many “Model Y” floor mats, trunk liners, sill guards and sunshades are cut for the shorter five-seat car, so check the fit status before you buy.
Model Y L owners in Japan report tread damage on factory Continental tires
Several Model Y L owners in Japan have posted photos of tread rubber peeling off the factory Continental tires (Tesla “T0” spec) after roughly 1,700–3,000 km. The first report on the Japanese owners' forum Teskas (Aug 27, 2026) described a large tread peel on a front tire after about three months and 3,000 km. Another owner found the same on a front-right tire, and more owners posted similar photos on X on Oct 18–19.
In the original owner's Oct 15 update, Continental said the damage looked externally caused and declined warranty cover. Tesla offered to send the tire to JAMTA (the Japan Automobile Tire Manufacturers Association) for inspection and to check the car's alignment. We found no recall for this as of Oct 19, 2026. These are owner reports, not a confirmed defect.
If you drive a Model Y L, inspect the tread on all four tires, especially the fronts, and contact Tesla Service if you see peeling or chunks missing. Model Y L wheels, tires and wheel accessories →
